"Scarcity and Abundance"
linocut print on homemade recycled paper 2020 This print features vegetables native to the Americas, such as the pawpaw, tomato, and squash. Through this work, I reflected on the juxtaposition between American Thanksgiving traditions involving indulgent consumption and the food scarcity that indigenous communities face. Printed on homemade recycled paper, through the process of this work, I consider my own consumption practices and identity as a non-indigenous settler in the US. |

"Quilted"
ceramics, embroidery thread 2023 I am deeply inspired by historic quilt work in the United States, which serves as a testament to the creativity, resilience, and cultural expression of women, particularly Black women, throughout history. In this piece I explore the possibilities of ceramic forms, both in how they drape, and in the way they hold information. The wall unit maps my hometown. |
